It's time for Texas for Sarah Palin
I've been cross-posting between the two blogs for the past few days, but from now on, new posts will only go up on TX4P. SP4P will no longer be updated, but it will remain static so older posts can be accessed. TX4P is now the active blog.
Followers: thank you for supporting SP4P. Please follow TX4P from now on.
Regulars and Visitors: Please update your bookmarks from SP4P to TX4P.
Bloggers: If you have changed the links on your blog from SP4P to TX4P, thank you for helping me make this transition. If you haven't done so, please change them at your earliest convenience. If your blog links to mine, but I haven't returned the favor, please pardon the oversight. Let me know by comment or e-mail, and I'll get it fixed. Also, if you have an entry for my blog on yours using the "Blog List" feature of Blogger and I don't have your blog listed in my "One The Palin Blogs" list, let me know and I'll get an entry for your site on the list.
When (and/or if) Gov. Palin ever decides to run for president, I would have gladly surrendered the name "Sarah Palin for President" to her organization anyway, so now is not a bad time to make the change. It will take TX4P some time to build up the traffic that SP4P had, but I'm in no rush. TX4P, like SP4P before it, will have the best Sarah Palin and conservative links on the web. The emphasis will continue to be on providing a wealth of information about Gov. Palin. And I will continue to post "Palin Blog Tours" which promote the Palin blogs of my colleagues in the Palin blogging community.
Please join me at Texas for Sarah Palin.
Thanks,
- JP
Gov. Palin meets the press in Juneau
Palin expressed a willingness to compromise on two important issues. She’s said she might agree to accept federal stimulus funds if the legislature would use some of it to replace state spending:
"We can back out state dollars and replace them with stimulus dollars…I’ll feel better about it because then those dollars won’t just be additional dollars they’ll be replacement dollars."On another issue, Gov. Palin had previously said that she was not interested in compromising on a measure requiring parents to give permission before their daughters under the age of 17 could get an abortion. Now, with the legislature due to adjourn in just nine days, the governor indicated that she would accept a bill that would only require parents to be notified about a teenager’s plan to have an abortion.
Gov. Palin was also asked about Levi Johnston's claim made on CBS's "Early Show" that he moved into the Palin's house a few weeks before his former fiancee Bristol Palin gave birth to their son Tripp:
"I know the truth about my family. I know details about whether Levi Johnston was allowed to live with my teenage daughter or not. By the way, it would be over my dead body that a kid would live with my teenage daughter."The governor continues to prove that she is a mainstream conservative pragmatist in the mold of Ronald Reagan and Fred Thompson. She refuses to allow her political enemies on The Left to define her as an extreme right-wing ideologue.

Newsweek tackles predator control in Alaska
There are a lot of facts that were not included in the piece. Wolves, giving birth to litters of four or five pups, reproduce at a much higher rate than do moose and caribou, giving birth to mostly one calf at a time. That's why the predator control programs are a continuing process.
To Ms. Coyne's credit, she does point out that the predator control debate has been raging in Alaska "since long before Palin came onto the scene." She also provides opposing opinions in quotes from two Alaska Department of Fish and Game officials, one appointed by Gov. Palin and another by Democrat former governor Tony Knowles.
But overall, the article is not balanced because she also quotes a biologist for Defenders of Wildlife, the left wing group which ran the infamous anti-Palin ads featuring actress Ashley Judd. No opinion from an opposing group is presented. One such organization is Defenders of Wild Food, which describes itself as "a national effort dedicated to educating people regarding the importance of wildlife to the culture and diet of Alaskans." These defenders also have an ad:

The Gang of Nine Speaks
Get Palin!
Larson says they will go to the ends of the earth to "Get Palin!":
Elements of an elitist, leftist, mostly Eastern-based MSM fear and loathe Governor Sarah Palin — all 5' 7," 125 pounds of her traditional values, anathema to them. She threatens their collectivist goals, shared by most serious liberal Dems, of more and more dependency on Big Government, dreams of controlling folks, of stopping drilling for oil somewhere (read, ANWR) of snaring still more taxes from "the wealthy" to "spread the wealth" possibly to the undeserving and/or the unworthy. The Left's media running dogs have most recently seized upon the troubles of two teenagers, playing the story of the split between Bristol Palin and her former finance Levi Johnston to the hilt and then some. An inordinate amount of attention is being given to young Levi, and the buzz from what he had to say before the cameras has dominated the gossip blogs and Leftist nutroots websites for the past week.
Their primary fear, I think, lies in Sarah Palin's possible ascension someday to be the POTUS. Scariest of all to her legion of irreligious media enemies, she is actually liked by most ordinary people, carrying a 60%-plus approval rating in Alaska. It's a percentage many a politician would die for.
Palin's all-American outlook (and her envied good looks?), her Reaganesque exuberance, natural optimism, her humble Utah beginnings, her love for the USA and true family values, only stoke the raving fires of madness of the heavy-breathing, Amerika-blaming hard Left.
So their media efforts to put down this extraordinary woman continue today, and perhaps ad infinitum, based on an irrational fear that someday Sarah Palin might just be President of the United States. Therefore expect the attacks, the attention on her and even her family, to continue, at least through 2012. Beyond?
All of which led blogger Ron Devito to ask some very important questions:
"Why has no one asked the very basic question of how a job-less teenager drives an expensive truck and travels 4,400 miles with two adults in no better financial condition than himself to one of the most expensive cities in the world? There, he does a talk show circuit in which he engages in a crusade against a sitting Governor and her daughter with whom he was man enough to create a child but not man enough to provide for said child."Ask yourself what we have to do here to follow the money. As Ron points out, if we can nail down the source of the money, the motive will be apparent. We may even discover the shadowy figure who first sent down the marching orders to "Get Palin!"

Bible Church arson investigators still on the case
Zaz Hollander of the Alaska Daily News must have had similar thoughts, because just six days later this story appeared in that newspaper. There's been no progress to report, but at least the authorities are still on the case:
Wasilla police investigator Ruth Josten said she is working on the case with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.Josten is confident that a break in the case will eventually come:
The federal agency is testing gasoline found at several places around the church for any specific additives, Josten said. She's also following any tips, though she wouldn't say how many have come in or how recently.
"Time will be on our side," she said. "You have to be willing to set a case aside, do some work on it, take in everything that anybody calls you with. An overheard conversation -- sometimes it's that minor of a situation."h/t: Conservatives 4 Palin

Palin: Missile cuts 'send the wrong message'
The Honorable Robert GatesUpdate: Jim Geraghty at NRO's Campaign Spot observes:
Secretary of Defense
1000 Defense Pentagon
Washington, DC 20301
Dear Mr. Secretary:
I would like to express my deep concern over your proposed budget cuts to the Missile Defense Agency. In these crucial times of rocket design and technology development by North Korea and Iran, I believe the global missile defense shield is more important now than ever.
Critics of this program believe that we are wasting money on a system that does not guarantee success. However, to ensure our security, our freedom, and our American way of life, we must continue to be diligent in developing technology that can expand to protect us from multiple threat targets.
Your announcement of a proposed $1.4 billion reduction of the Missile Defense Agency's budget is not the best decision for today's threat environment. Alaska is committed to supporting continued missile defense implementation at Fort Greely and the development of future technology through our Kodiak Launch Complex, which has access to the Gulf of Alaska Maritime Exercise Area. This unique training space offers a safe and secure location to further develop and test future missile intercept technologies in conjunction with the latest sea-based and land-based radar.
With the strategic location of Alaska in the Pacific Theater, I believe we have the capability, the man power, and the willingness to protect the sovereignty of the United States and can continue to improve the global missile defense shield. Fort Greely's isolated location in Alaska allows for maximum security and development of the country's premier ground-based midcourse missile defense complex.
I am deeply concerned with North Korea's development and testing program. It has the clear potential of impacting Alaska, Hawaii, and possibly the West Coast with a nuclear armed warhead. I can't emphasize enough how important it is that we continue to develop and perfect our global missile defense shield.
Alaska's strategic location and the system currently in place have proven invaluable in defending this great nation. Any cuts to the sole missile defense system for the United States has the potential of sending the wrong message to our adversaries with the unintended consequence of placing our nation at increased risk of offensive missile threats in the future.
Sincerely,
Sarah Palin
It appears Sarah Palin has found a foreign-policy issue and a Washington national-security fight that she can weigh in on regularly.Indeed, no small thanks to the Obama Administration.
Meanwhile, at DraftPalin2012, Stephen Maloney says:
Gov. Sarah Palin is now leading the national resistance against Barack Obama's policies of socialism and appeasement.Just wait until the end of the legislative session, when she can devote her full attention to making Obama, Inc. look bad.

Ross Confirmation Hearings Underway in AK
Ross was asked how he would deal with situations like the those his predecessor faced when the governor was the object of an ethics investigation which her supporters say was clearly politically motivated:
"How would you handle a conflict between your duty to the governor and your duty to the law?" state Sen. Hollis French, D-Anchorage, asked. At times during the hearing, the exchanges between Ross and members of the committee became heated.
Ross said he would serve the interests of the state rather than of the governor.
"My duties to the law come first. I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States and that of the State of Alaska. I didn't take an oath to support and defend the governor," Ross said.
Nome Democrat Donny Olson challenged Ross on his opposition to Alaska's rural preference law for subsistence hunting and fishing, which the nominee worked to get tossed out by the Alaska Supreme Court, and another court ordered a federal takeover of subsistence hunting and fishing management across much of the state:
Ross said the state Constitution says Alaska’s assets belong to all state residents, and people should talk instead of going to the feds to get “more rights than other people.”Ross told the committee that he opposes the death penalty (Gov. Palin supports it) and said that state officials are often too intent on taking kids from homes in cases of alleged abuse rather than in keeping families together when appropriate.
“You don’t invite the bear into your house and then expect not to get eaten up. We’re being eaten up and we need to get together,” Ross told the committee.
Olson objected.
“The bear that you call it is the United States government and that’s what had to step in here because state law was starting to run over the rank and file little guy out there that is trying to make a living out in rural Alaska,” Olson said.
Ross fired back.
“You’re a senator, you represent all Alaskans and you should be working with other Alaskans to develop solutions rather than going out and crying to mama out somewheres else, and saying ‘mom, you’ve got to help me,”’ Ross said. “That’s not necessarily directed at you. But we should have worked together to solve those problems, rather than get somebody else.”
The nominee will appear before the House Judiciary Committee on Friday. State legislators are scheduled to vote on his confirmation April 16. the consensus among Alaska's legislators is that Ross, a strong gun-rights advocate who has a lot of Republican support in the Legislature, will be confirmed.
Update: Visit The Dutch Harbor Fisherman to learn how you can listen in on the hearings.

P.J. Pwns Pitt over Palin Post
Jason Leopold, another truthout.org reporter, posted on that website that Karl Rove, who was then White House Deputy Chief of Staff, had been indicted as part of Patrick Fitzgerald's investigation into Plamegate. Pitt cross-posted Leopold's fantasies on hate site Democratic Underground, and he insisted that they were legit, even when it became obvious to all but the politically insane that they were patently bogus. Rove, of course, was never indicted.
Pitt, however, remains a popular contributor at DU, where the drooling dregs of the lunatic left will lap up any nonsense, provided it is hateful enough and attacks the character of good people. He recently posted an attack on Gov. Sarah Palin's family at DU, and PJ Comix, proprietor of DUmmie FUnnies, a blog which mocks the DU DU beetles, skewers Pitt for it.
Here's just a spot of spiteful spittle from Pitt's screed:
Do you suppose Palin slaughters little bunnies for Easter? How does anyone who writes such slop think anyone but the denizens of DU DU will take him seriously?
Anyway, PJ's punking of Pitt is here.
Warning: Be careful of the links you click on. If you visit the DU website, you will need a long, hot shower afterwards. Lysol and wire brush strongly advised.

Just who does CNN think it's fooling?
"...there's one question Meghan McCain refuses to answer: whether she sees herself supporting Sarah Palin should the Alaska governor run for president."Well, duh!
Anyone with even as damaged a brain as Joe Biden's knows that John McCain's daughter thinks the Republican Party should be Democrat Lite. Of course she wouldn't support Gov. Palin for president.
Who does CNN think it's fooling anyway? Judging by how fast the cable outlet's ratings are sliding like the cheese off of Biden's cracker, not very many folks at all.

Cronkite Award: Theater of the Absurd
It is obvious that Couric is being rewarded for the political result of her interview –the shooting down of a conservative superstar just in time to save the Obama campaign. It’s not about the "journalism" at all. But even that truth is not the most outrageous aspect of this absurdity. What’s even more absurd is that not only shouldn’t Couric be getting rewarded for her Palin interview, if we lived in a world where journalistic standards still mattered at all, she would have been roundly condemned for it.Ziegler says that while he wasn't able to get a ticket for the April 15th awards ceremony he will be there:
I plan to be at the event handing out copies of “Media Malpractice” to any of the attendees who want to know the facts.Well, John, to paraphrase a former president of the United States, that depends on what the meaning of "facts" is.
I am sure I will be received warmly. After all, isn’t getting the facts what journalism is supposed to be all about?

Book Deal Deja Vu
Alaska’s Republican governor, Sarah Palin, has retained DC Democratic power player Robert Barnett to sell her presumed memoir of the 2008 campaign. The expected seven-figure book advance will make it easier for Palin to pay for travel to the “lower 48” for political events and then a presidential run.Gee, that sounds strangely familiar. I had to check the date on the article to make sure that it wasn't just this old thing from Reuters dated January 22 being dredged up:
The book could put Palin into a 2012 race with President Obama, who used the same lawyer and the same strategy—a big advance and a book—in part to back his early campaign efforts.
NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - It looks as though Sarah Palin may be ready to tell her story in print.Greta Van Susteren debunked that one, as we reported, but the rumor caused quite a stir at the time.
The former Republican vice presidential candidate apparently has enlisted the help of superstar Washington attorney Robert Barnett, who has brokered book deals for such political A-listers as President Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
So now we have the same players, same 7-digit figure, only with a different source. I certainly hope it's true. No one deserves a handsome payout for a campaign memoir more than Sarah Palin, considering how she and her family were mistreated by the Left, its captive media and even those inside Team McCain who were supposed to have been defending her.
Let's see if this gets confirmed by Meghan Stapleton or another trusted source close to the governor.

Yes, Joe "The Brain" Biden has been talking again, no doubt causing the White House to double the normal order of Maalox for the week. The deep veep said yesterday that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's new government would be "ill-advised" to attack Iran to prevent the rogue nation from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Palin has 'no intention' of challenging Murkowski
"The governor has no intention of running for the senator's seat in 2010. She thinks the senator is doing a great job and that's why she's looking forward to hosting a fundraiser for her."Meg Stapleton also told ADN yesterday speculation that Gov, Palin might challenge Sen. Murkowski in the 2010 GOP primary is "just something that's been drummed up by the media."
The Alaska Dispatch had called this correctly April 1, saying that word on the street was that Gov. Sarah Palin was planning to help Sen. Murkowski with a fundraiser.
Ivan Moore, an Anchorage-based pollster and political consultant, said this should bring and end to media speculation of a contest between Murkowski and Palin:
If Palin is interested in the U.S. Senate, Moore said, a more plausible scenario would be her running for governor in 2010, serving a second term, and then challenging Alaska Democratic Sen. Mark Begich when his term is up in 2014.That is also what I said in early December.
Politico referenced the ADN story in a short piece today. Interestingly, Stapleton's charge that the media has tried to stir up a mud wrestling match between Palin and Murkowski doesn't seem that far-fetched. Politico appears to be one of the usual suspects, with several items like this one. Barely two weeks after the Politico item was published, the nutroots got into the act, with Daily Kos commissioning a Research 2000 poll showing that in a hypothetical matchup between the two women for Murkowski's job, Palin would win by 55 to 31. That was followed a scant two weeks later by another survey, the latter one paid for by Palin nemesis Dan Fagan, with almost the opposite result - Murkowski retaining her seat by 58 to 31. What is wrong with these two pictures?
If Moore is right, the children will give up this nonsense. But those who want to make mischief for Sarah Palin are a determined bunch. Why let facts get in the way when you're trying to sow the seeds of conflict?

It's Alive: The First Sarah Palin Defense Fund
A defense fund to help Sarah Palin pay her mounting legal bills is now up on the web and operational...The defense fund is managed by Clayton Paslay, who is the organizer of FreeAmericanCitizens.org, a non-affiliated PAC.
According to the organizer, the defense money raised will go directly to Thomas Van Flein, Governor Palin's private attorney.
Here's the link: Sarah Palin's Defense fund. And here's a link to the Free American Cititzens website.
Though this is not THE official Sarah Palin Legal Defense Fund (that one should go active this week, perhaps as early as Thursday), the governor's attorney "has given his assurance that this fund is legal and legitimate."
Celtic Diva, Andree McLeod and the rest of those who thought they could bankrupt the Palins with nuisance lawsuits and other schemes may soon learn the meaning of EPIC FAIL as Gov. Palin's supporters make these funds grow. In fact, the governor's enemies may have unwittingly provided a barometer of Sarah Palin's national support. Let's see how quickly the bucks add up.
Update: By e-mail, Team Sarah reports that it asked Palin Family Spokesperson Meghan Stapleton about the unofficial Defense Fund and received this reply:
The continuing generosity of Alaskans and Americans is overwhelming as many reach out to assist Governor Sarah Palin and her family with their legal bills. If the governor cannot directly accept the money the unofficial fund is raising, then it will either have to be returned to the donors or Clayton Paslay will have to find a way to legally donate it to the official fund, once the latter is finally up and running.
However, the official legal defense fund for Governor Sarah Palin has not been formed and the Governor cannot accept monies for those obligations from any other entity than the one in formation. Numerous federal and state laws to need to be abided by and the official legal defense fund will have very strict donation guidelines.
We thank everyone interested in helping the Governor. The best way to assist her will be through this official fund which will launch later this month."
Questions:
If Gov. Palin can't legally accept money from the unofficial fund, why didn't Palin attorney Thomas Van Flein say so when The Sarah Palin Blog inquired about it? According to TSPB, Van Flien said that the unofficial fund is "legitimate."
Why did a SarahPAC official tell TSPB yesterday... "It is legal. It's just not the official one. Please tell people that the official one is soon to come. Again, we do not know that donors will comply with our terms and guidelines which are very strict - we may end up needing to contact every single donor to ask the questions that we will be asking. However, we appreciate any and all assistance! Thank you" ...but today says the governor cannot accept money from the unofficial fund.
It's either legal, or it isn't. And who should know legal better than Sarah Palin's lawyer?

Gov. Palin Gets Praise From Unusual Quarter
In a post titled "Who will defend us?", Jillian Becker contrasts the governor's recent statement stressing the need for the U.S. to have a robust missile defense with what we've been hearing from the Obama Administration through Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, a message of weakness spoken softly without a big stick to back it up.
Ms. Becker's conclusion:
Plainly, America and the world would be safer if Palin were president and not Obama. Now there's something that conservative atheists and conservatives of faith can agree on! How refreshing to hear such from a non-believer. Atheists of the Left, it seems, can only mock Gov. Palin for her religious beliefs, while those on the Right are more interested in such critical issues as the defense of our nation.
Hats off to The Atheist Conservative for recognizing that conservatives of all stripes share much more common ground than the narrow strips with fences which stand between us.

Whole lotta shakin' goin' on in Alaska
It's a real earthquake, measured at 4.6 by the U.S. Geological Survey, and felt in many parts of the 49th state including the governor's home town of Wasilla. Along with Mt. Redoubt repeatedly blowing its stack lately, it shows that Alaska is as active geologically as it is politically.

Corrupt CNN helps Dems slam Palin (yet again)
CNN (Corrupt News Network), like a good dog, continues to perform stupid pet tricks for its Democrat Party masters. Their latest PR effort for the Dems is yet another in a long series of shots the rapidly sinking cable outlet has taken at Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. The piece, from Political Producer Peter Hamby, on CNN's "Political Ticker" blog, goes on about how Virginia Dems have made a web video portraying the former GOP vice presidential candidate as a "polarizing" figure for praising small towns as the "real America" while at a North Carolina campaign rally last fall. As you might expect, Hamby does not dare to mention first Lady Michelle Obama's recent statement in London that she's from the "real Chicago" (the South Side).Sit, CNN. Good dog! Now, roll over...

Sarah Palin vs. The Gang of Nine (Cont.)
Now the governor has made another pick whose name was not on the list of four names the Dems gave her. Why would she do this? If the Gang of Nine refuses to seat Joe Nelson, it puts them on the record as rejecting an Alaska native and makes them appear petty for passing him over in favor of one of Gov. Palin's most outspoken political enemies.
The former GOP vice presidential nominee is showing that she knows how this game of politics is played. Advantage: Sarah Palin.
